Adaptability across different experimental setups and precise detector positioning are critical requirements in modern nuclear physics experiments. This paper presents the development of a modular and transportable mechanical support structure for a particle identification system, together with a dedicated measurement setup and reconstruction algorithm to estimate its position inside the scattering chamber. During experimental tests performed using an additively manufactured mockup chamber, the pose of the support structure was estimated with a squared position error of less than 1.5 mm and a squared orientation error of less than 1.5°.

Abstract
Adaptability across different experimental setups and precise detector positioning are critical requirements in modern nuclear physics experiments. This paper presents the development of a modular and transportable mechanical support structure for a particle identification system, together with a dedicated measurement setup and reconstruction algorithm to estimate its position inside the scattering chamber. During experimental tests performed using an additively manufactured mockup chamber, the pose of the support structure was estimated with a squared position error of less than 1.5 mm and a squared orientation error of less than 1.5°.Pubblicazioni consigliate
