We discuss the use of noise induced transitions for the effective energy harvesting in systems described by a two-variable nonlinear oscillator model. Using Ito stochastic calculus, we show that an energy balance equation can be derived describing the power exchange for the harvester, leading to the influence of the oscillator state on the energy exchange. Therefore, proper design of the harvester can be devised to improve its energy efficiency.

Abstract
We discuss the use of noise induced transitions for the effective energy harvesting in systems described by a two-variable nonlinear oscillator model. Using Ito stochastic calculus, we show that an energy balance equation can be derived describing the power exchange for the harvester, leading to the influence of the oscillator state on the energy exchange. Therefore, proper design of the harvester can be devised to improve its energy efficiency.Pubblicazioni consigliate
