Il Rio Moirano a Pinerolo: un canale per la conservazione e la valorizzazione del patrimonio di archeologia industriale

The town of Pinerolo, in the millennium of its history, underwent expansions and contractions, transformations, but above all demolition, which have substantially modified its appearance. However, one component that has always survived simi-lar to itself is the Rio Moirano, flume which we know since the early Thirteenth Century, and was the driving force for a series of productive activities that made the city a popular medieval industrial center. Today, this heritage requires timely operations of protection, since the speculation is slowly but surely destroying or hiding it. This paper aims to rethink this canal as an engine for conservation, as well as a nodal point for the enhancement of important proto-industrial examples of the city, principally through urbanistic planning and popular involvement.
