In the processing of scientific data for the ESA HIPPARCOS astrometric mission, the on-ground attitude reconstitution (OGAR) aims on obtaining a continuous estimate of the three-axis attitude angles with a final accuracy of 0.1 arcsec. The definition of a first approach to the estimation procedure is the goal of the present paper, where attention is reserved to error sources and to the requirement of simple and robust algorithms. Some preliminary results are presented.

Abstract
In the processing of scientific data for the ESA HIPPARCOS astrometric mission, the on-ground attitude reconstitution (OGAR) aims on obtaining a continuous estimate of the three-axis attitude angles with a final accuracy of 0.1 arcsec. The definition of a first approach to the estimation procedure is the goal of the present paper, where attention is reserved to error sources and to the requirement of simple and robust algorithms. Some preliminary results are presented.Pubblicazioni consigliate
