Computing federation represents one of the most influential trends in today's cloud discussions, thanks in part to the continuous increase in computing needs. Indeed, federating clusters can induce several advantages over a flat expansion of one's cloud resources, including the potential for reduced operational costs, access to clean energy, and improved latency for end users. These compelling arguments have led to a multitude of inter-cloud mesh solutions being designed around the need to interconnect cooperating Kubernetes clusters through a fabric that allows the seamless offload of workloads and services. This paper serves as an objective comparison of the available solutions, with a specific focus on the Liqo network fabric and its future developments.

Abstract
Computing federation represents one of the most influential trends in today's cloud discussions, thanks in part to the continuous increase in computing needs. Indeed, federating clusters can induce several advantages over a flat expansion of one's cloud resources, including the potential for reduced operational costs, access to clean energy, and improved latency for end users. These compelling arguments have led to a multitude of inter-cloud mesh solutions being designed around the need to interconnect cooperating Kubernetes clusters through a fabric that allows the seamless offload of workloads and services. This paper serves as an objective comparison of the available solutions, with a specific focus on the Liqo network fabric and its future developments.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
