This paper presents the design of a Low-Voltage Reconfigurable Electric Vehicle (LVREV), a modular BEV concept that bridges the gap between L and M category vehicles. Featuring a 52V dual-inverter, six-phase powertrain and swappable battery modules, the LVREV supports two driving modes, namely Frugal for urban use and Dual for extra-urban missions. The vehicle architecture ensures safety, affordability, and adaptability through user-operated battery swaps and home charging compatibility. Model-based design techniques have been adopted to optimize both the battery sizing and the electric drive module during the design phase. Results show that the LVREV exceeds performance targets while enabling practical, flexible electric mobility tailored to real-world user needs.

Abstract
