We tackle the multi-objective, current-only optimization of metasurface antennas with a novel adaptive weighting technique. Different constraints are combined in a single objective function with variable weights. The classical, non-linear conjugate gradient optimization algorithm is enriched with an hyperplane adaptive weighting scheme to improve the convergence properties. The procedure has been applied to the design of broadside-radiating metasurface antenna working at 23 GHz, with clear improvements in the resulting design with respect to the fixed-weights scheme.
