This paper presents an optimization study on the charging process of a capacitor bank using a snubber capacitor in a 1 kV flyback converter. Previous research work has focused on optimizing snubber capacitance only for steady-state operation. In this work, the snubber capacitance was experimentally optimized to boost the converter's efficiency in the charging process. It was shown that a trade-off exists between turn-on and turn-off losses. By introducing just a 680 pF snubber capacitor, a considerable improvement in efficiency was achieved, raising it from 90.3% to 91.3 %.

Abstract
This paper presents an optimization study on the charging process of a capacitor bank using a snubber capacitor in a 1 kV flyback converter. Previous research work has focused on optimizing snubber capacitance only for steady-state operation. In this work, the snubber capacitance was experimentally optimized to boost the converter's efficiency in the charging process. It was shown that a trade-off exists between turn-on and turn-off losses. By introducing just a 680 pF snubber capacitor, a considerable improvement in efficiency was achieved, raising it from 90.3% to 91.3 %.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
