The voltage regulation for permanent magnet synchronous generators shows several complexities, especially if the system is connected directly online. Hybrid magnets represent a particular solution to resolve this drawback. The dedicated coils are used to control the magnetic flux of magnets and permit voltage adjustments. Different generators with hybridization equipment have been studied for a small hydroelectric plant. Some solutions show promising results.

Abstract

The voltage regulation for permanent magnet synchronous generators shows several complexities, especially if the system is connected directly online. Hybrid magnets represent a particular solution to resolve this drawback. The dedicated coils are used to control the magnetic flux of magnets and permit voltage adjustments. Different generators with hybridization equipment have been studied for a small hydroelectric plant. Some solutions show promising results.
