The Politecnico di Torino is undergoing significant expansion, marked by growing student numbers, internationalisation, and deeper engagement with the city. Central to this transformation is the role of the Masterplan Team, established in 2016, which translates institutional policies into spatial strategies, fostering dialogue between the university and stakeholders like the City of Torino and regional actors. This paper focuses on the redevelopment of the Campus for Architecture, Design, and Planning Schools in the Parco del Valentino, aiming to consolidate dispersed facilities into a unified, permeable campus that blends with the urban fabric and natural environment. The project reimagines the historic Castello del Valentino and the Torino Esposizioni complex, leveraging their cultural and architectural heritage. Key interventions include repurposing three pavilions (Sottsass, Nervi, and the New Pavilion) to create flexible, public-oriented spaces that enhance academic and social interactions. The Nervi Pavilion, with its iconic vaulted hall, will serve as a covered public square, while the Sottsass Pavilion’s atrium will bridge built and natural environments. The campus design emphasises accessibility, with open green spaces, restored riverbanks, and integrated cultural amenities like the Central Civic Library. By eliminating physical barriers and fostering connections between academia and the public, the campus aims to become a vibrant hub for Torino, aligning with international best practices in campus design. The project not only addresses spatial and functional needs but also revitalises the Parco del Valentino as a cultural and ecological asset. Through strategic collaboration and innovative design, the Politecnico reinforces its role as a catalyst for urban improvement, creating a model for campus-city integration.

Abstract
Through strategic collaboration and innovative design, the Politecnico reinforces its role as a catalyst for urban improvement, creating a model for campus-city integration.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
