The research project “Co.R.A.Ve. – Conservazione dei Ruderi Archeologici nei contesti Vegetali” is an initiative developed within the Department of Architecture and Design at the Politecnico di Torino, in scientific collaboration with the company CTS. The project aims to define and implement innovative intervention methodologies for conserving archaeological ruins in areas characterized by significant spontaneous vegetation growth. The experimental case study is the Etruscan Necropolis of Banditaccia in Cerveteri. Specifically, the research focuses on those sectors of the burial ground that extend beyond the currently fenced and musealized area, zones historically subjected to minimal maintenance regimes and, consequently, more exposed to uncontrolled vegetation growth. While this condition has fostered a landscape of evocative aesthetic value, where architectural remnants and natural elements intertwine in an inseparable symbiosis, it has also led to critical conservation challenges. The Co.R.A.Ve. project thus seeks to identify targeted conservation strategies that promote the coexistence of archaeological structures and their natural environment, mediating between the necessity of preserving the material integrity of the monuments and the objective of maintaining a sustainable balance between ruins and vegetation.

Abstract
The Co.R.A.Ve. project thus seeks to identify targeted conservation strategies that promote the coexistence of archaeological structures and their natural environment, mediating between the necessity of preserving the material integrity of the monuments and the objective of maintaining a sustainable balance between ruins and vegetation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
