Abstract

Reflections on the role of research in cultural heritage—and its influence on constantly evolving university curricula—find a compelling example in the most innovative approaches to architectural education. The multidisciplinary methodology championed by this Conference is reflected not only in academic programs but also in pioneering initiatives that now define university training at multiple levels. These include international exchanges and collaborative projects supported by the European Community, as well as workshops focused on the complexities of heritage and its territorial contexts, often co-designed with local institutions and communities. This contribution revisits key experiences developed at the Polytechnic University of Turin, shedding light on the growing synergy between research and education across borders. The shared mission is safeguarding and enhancing architectural and landscape heritage through sustainable, socially impactful practices. The convergence of diverse disciplines—from research and planning to governance—fosters collective awareness and lasting growth. Most importantly, it equips a new generation of architects with the knowledge and sensitivity required to care for our cultural legacy.
