Assets confiscation against organised crime is an intricate issue that can also be addressed as a culturally and socially relevant fact. The allocation of these assets to social use is a well-established practice in Italian jurisdiction. Driven from below, implemented by the collaboration between institutions, organisations and citizens, it is a strong example of the fight against crime. ‘Educating to legality’ is the dogma that has guided associations like ‘Libera’ in its action against illegality. It seems an impossible goal to achieve, yet mutual respect and the solidity of the Italian legal system have ensured positive results within such a hostile context.
