Presenting the volume Il monumento per l’uomo (The Monument for Man), which reports on the results of the Se-cond International Congress of Restoration, Piero Gazzola affirms that «by far the most positive result of this meeting was the formulation of the “International Charter of Restoration”: [...] a text of historical importance [...] that no one will be able to ignore any longer and to whose spirit every specialist will have to adhere if he does not want to be considered an outlaw of culture» (Pietro Gazzola, 1971). The Venice Charter is thus considered to be the «official code of the heritage conservation sector» (ibidem), defining the principles on the basis of which in-terventions for the conservation and restoration of monuments should be planned. In light of these observations, it is interesting to examine to what extent and in what ways the principles of the Venice Charter have been applied in the interventions sponsored by the Piedmont Region in the city of Turin in the second half of the 1970s
