In this work, we employ an automated deterministic method for the synthesis of metasurfaces to the design of end-fed leaky-wave antennas that radiate at broadside without suffering from the gain loss and input mismatch due to the open stopband phenomenon. Prototypes of the designed antennas are fabricated and tested. Excellent agreement between full-wave simulations and experimental measurements is found, thus confirming the effectiveness of the adopted method.

Abstract
