TOPICA (TOrino Polytechnic Ion Cyclotron Antenna) code is an advanced tool for simulating ion-cyclotron (IC) radio frequency antennas; the plasma impedance matrix accounting for the plasma interaction is computed by a devoted tool, namely the FELICE (Finite ELements Ion Cyclotron Emulator) code. In the past 20 years, the same release of FELICE code (dated 2002, but originally developed in the ‘90s) has been run together with TOPICA. This paper describes the work performed to couple to TOPICA the current release of FELICE code (dated 2023). The two versions of FELICE code are first compared in terms of the standard code output, i.e. the plasma impedance matrix. Besides, the effects of the new code are also described by looking at typical TOPICA results, i.e. the antenna input parameters, the power transferred to plasma, the electric currents and the electric fields in front of an IC launcher. A preliminary flat version of the three straps antenna envisioned in DTT has been loaded in TOPICA to perform the comparison.
