In recent years, Transmitarray Antennas (TA) have became interesting alternatives to other type of high-gain antennas, especially for their flexibility, that make possible to obtain radiation patterns with different features just changing the TA unit cell distribution. In this view, Evolutionary Optimization Algorithms can be applied successfully to the design of configurations able to radiate a shaped beam. Because of the high computational cost required by such a process, the use of an efficient optimization algorithm is really important. In this paper, a population-based evolutionary algorithm named Social Network Optimization, whose efficiency has already been proved in several cases, has been applied to the optimized design of a shaped-beam Transmitarray.

Abstract
