Electro-Sinter-Forging or E-Forging is a novel production technique that is gaining traction in different areas of manufacturing: from the production of parts in precious materials to diamond abrasives, from hard steel components to hardenable gears. In this work we present for the first time the results concerning the consolidation to full density of aluminium powders. Two commercial grades have been chosen, AlSi10 and AlSi10Mg0.4, in two different granulometric distributions: <63 μm and <160 μm to understand the influence of the addition of magnesium and of the different particle sizes on the properties of the final parts. A complete metallurgical characterization of the e-forged material will be presented.

Abstract
Electro-Sinter-Forging or E-Forging is a novel production technique that is gaining traction in different areas of manufacturing: from the production of parts in precious materials to diamond abrasives, from hard steel components to hardenable gears. In this work we present for the first time the results concerning the consolidation to full density of aluminium powders. Two commercial grades have been chosen, AlSi10 and AlSi10Mg0.4, in two different granulometric distributions: <63 μm and <160 μm to understand the influence of the addition of magnesium and of the different particle sizes on the properties of the final parts. A complete metallurgical characterization of the e-forged material will be presented.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
