Abstract

Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors are a particular type of optical sensor capable of measuring multiple physical properties, like strain, temperature, and vibration. Their properties are of great interest for several use cases, including telecommunications, security, medicine, and biotechnology. This paper will discuss the progress of a project that uses them to monitor the health of an instrumented Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). Such operation is carried out on the ground in near real-time using software for intuitive data visualization.
