The research activity is aimed to visually observe the impacts of different cutting processes in thin silicon-iron laminations used for the production of high-speed and energy-saving electric machines. Three methods have been adopted for the visual inspection of the cut areas: scansion electronic microscope, optical microscopes and a self-developed thermographic approach. In the paper, the results of these observation techniques are presented for three types of 0.35 mm silicon-iron magnetic sheets cut using the guillotine, fiber laser, water jet and mechanical milling to prove the consistency of the proposed study in the observation of the effects introduced by the adopted cutting solutions.
