Le chiese nelle dinamiche di ricostruzione post-sismica: dalla memoria culturale alla memoria della catastrofe

Seismic events occurred in Italy, provide for a wide sample of reconstruction, delocalization and abandonment strategies of the damaged cities. In this context, churches and their reconstruction represent one of the fundamental steps in the strategies of recovery of settlements and communities. This contribute aims to investigate the role of the churches into the post-seismic reconstruction processes. It will be evaluated in which way these buildings can be considered elements of religious, cultural and urban memory, but also the memory of the tragic circumstances of earthquakes. To this aim, some of the most relevant Italian seismic events in thelast century will be investigated (1968 Belice, 1976 Friuli, 1980 Irpinia, 2009). These cases are selected according to the opportunity to deepen some historical and critical issues on the topic.
