We model and simulate non-linear effects and self-heating in MRRs in silicon photonic platform and with generic waveguide cross sections. We demonstrate that free carrier diffusion in rib waveguides plays a fundamental role in reducing the non-linearties. Optimal waveguide cross sections and high Q microrings are designed for the SISCAP platform.
