The paper presents the first results of “Il Pagliaru Novu” research whose objective is to redesign in morphological, technological and functional terms a Sicilian vernacular architecture through a life cycle approach (from design to end of life). The purpose of “Il Pagliaru Novu” project is to fit into a context of sustainable tourism that draws its origins from the Sicilian architectural tradition in order to protract over time the symbol of a disappearing rural culture. Through the hypothesis of a new use, the pagliaru becomes a way to promote knowledge and appreciation of local culture and traditions, while respecting the environment, territories and host populations. At the same time, the pagliaru becomes a symbolic element of a design that finds its roots in tradition, innovating according to the logic of "conscious sustainability" and circularity. The circular economy framework is at the center of the design process, particularly in relation to the logics of design for disassembly, design by modules, use of local materials, territorial waste to be exploited as new resources, durability and replacement by parts.

Abstract
The circular economy framework is at the center of the design process, particularly in relation to the logics of design for disassembly, design by modules, use of local materials, territorial waste to be exploited as new resources, durability and replacement by parts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
