The present work focuses on Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) in order to understand the behaviour of different structures when they impact the water. The know-how and the research topics studied at Politecnico di Torino’s S55 Team have permitted to highlight different problems regarding this phenomenology. The main topics that we want to discuss regarding the characterization of impact in water of specific structures that belong to seaplane and boat. Our purpose is to evaluate these complex scenarios through simplified models like the impact of the wedge with different deadrise angles. The aim is to compare the numerical analysis with the main analytical theories that describe the phenomenon and evaluate the main different dynamics variables that constitute the domain. The activity tries also to evaluate water impact test results in order to validate the dynamic variables predicted by our specific models.
