The Corso Grosseto viaduct in Turin, Italy, was a road bridge characterized by double deck simply supported girder system using precast prestressed beams and cast in situ concrete slab. The bridge was built in 1970 to remedy the problems of city traffic due to the impetuous development of Italian industry and a huge increment of citizens. During the service life, numerous causes of deterioration deriving mainly from the action of aggressive agents were reported. Between 2018 and 2019, after about 50 years of service life it was deconstructed for urban redevelopment works. The present paper reports the historical and technical aspects of such structure which represents a structural typology of urban viaduct widespread in Italy and all over the world. For this reason, the analysis associated to the viaduct could provide valid ideas for the new challenges of structural engineering regarding the evaluation of problems that affect existing similar structures still in service.

Abstract
For this reason, the analysis associated to the viaduct could provide valid ideas for the new challenges of structural engineering regarding the evaluation of problems that affect existing similar structures still in service.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
