We developed a simplified hydrological model in order to evaluate the soil water content at the regional scale. The final objectives were the evaluation of the actual evapotranspiration(AET) and the estimation of irrigation volumes with a "bottom-up" approach (namely, starting from both soil water content and farmers' behaviour at the farm scale). We validated the model in very different conditions of altitude, land use and land cover, without any calibration parameters.

Abstract

We developed a simplified hydrological model in order to evaluate the soil water content at the regional scale. The final objectives were the evaluation of the actual evapotranspiration(AET) and the estimation of irrigation volumes with a "bottom-up" approach (namely, starting from both soil water content and farmers' behaviour at the farm scale). We validated the model in very different conditions of altitude, land use and land cover, without any calibration parameters.
