Nuove luci sul castello dei Conti di Biandrate a Foglizzo (TO): il restauro delle sale cinquecentesche tra conservazione e valorizzazione integrata

The conservation and enhancement processes that the administration of the municipality of Foglizzo has carried out in recent years, to start the restoration of the castle, represent an example of best practices in the field of management of the publicly-owned fortified architectural heritage in Piedmont. The castle, institutional seat of the municipality, is a significant example of an architectural palimpsest that preserves evidence of the 14th century, and an important 16th century cycle of decorated surfaces and painted coffered wooden ceilings. The start of integrated projects directed towards carrying out system actions aimed at cultural activities and the identification of sustainable restoration intervention lots, from the municipality, has represented a first objective achieved. The involvement of the local community, in the activities recommended by the initiative, has allowed to consolidate a historically strong connection with the castle itself. The project also has encouraged the development of new professionalism in the field of found raising for the conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage.
