This paper examines the Austro-Hungarian cultural policy in Bosnia-Hercegovina during the Kalláy period, between 1882 and 1903. Kalláy was a strong advocate for the introduction of ‘new imperialist ideology’ on both socio-cultural life and architecture. The main aim of this paper is to analyse the formation of the ‘Bosnian Identity’ through the Marxist lineage of sociological theoretical concepts as an interrelated structure for understanding the formation of ideologies and the idea of cultural diff erence in societies. Analysing a historical period based on process and actororiented research principles as backward-reading is problematic since the ethnography and social science methodologies are generally conducted for the present. Thus, in order to better understand this a cultural turn, the architecture and ideology relationship was analysed through Sarajevo City Hall, which was one of the productions intended as a cultural and symbolic capital in this period of the main actors through their time-making acts.

Abstract
Thus, in order to better understand this a cultural turn, the architecture and ideology relationship was analysed through Sarajevo City Hall, which was one of the productions intended as a cultural and symbolic capital in this period of the main actors through their time-making acts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
