Numerical experiments are carried out to quantify the influence exerted by compressibility corrections upon chemical-reaction rates based on the law of mass action. In particular, the expansion inside a hypersonic nozzle is considered in the hypothesis of a quasi-onedimensional inviscid flow. The obtained data show non-negligible differences between results obtained with or without the application of compressibility corrections and stimulate further investigations on the subject. © 2003 by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc. Abstract
