The paper will focus on the period of the instauration of modern housing in Europe, around the half of the XIX century, trying to separate the historical discourse between the industrial revolution and the living condition of the workers from the analysis of the constitution of the notion itself of housing. In this period the question of the modern house proves itself at the surface of the discourse in European literatures, breaking the silence dating to medieval times, during which dwellings and acts of living are hidden in the reign of tradition and in the common habits. The hypothesis of the research tries to investigate how the different concepts, social theories, institutions, and socially recognized shapes of knowledge joint together create a new object: the house, in its different configurations, plans, dispositions. In other words the trial is to go far from the readings of the birth of modern housing and planning relevance of the patterns of the dwellings in terms of a univoque association with the so called industrial revolution, a topos fixed in the texts of the sixties and seventies of the XX century. The demand of the research is devoted to the general terms of the house, seen as a mobile notion, in order to investigate the actuality of the inherited configurations. This scenario will be investigated according a special reference to the international design handbooks, like Èmile Müller, Èmile Cacheaux, Habitations ouvrières en tous pays, Béranger, Paris 1878. A particular attention will be paid to the rising of the house as a technical object, that has to be shaped through codes and written legal instructions, and at the same time about the social figures that establish themselves on the social scene.

Abstract
A particular attention will be paid to the rising of the house as a technical object, that has to be shaped through codes and written legal instructions, and at the same time about the social figures that establish themselves on the social scene.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
