The aim of this work is to evaluate the seismic response of bridges isolated with friction pendulum system (FPS) bearings for different soil conditions. A two-degree-of-freedom model is proposed, considering an infinitely rigid deck isolated by the FPS devices and an elastic behavior of the pier. Seismic response assessment of isolated bridges is described analyzing the trend of both the median deck displacement respect to the pier and the median pier displacement as a function of friction coefficient, of different periods and of soil condition.

Abstract
The aim of this work is to evaluate the seismic response of bridges isolated with friction pendulum system (FPS) bearings for different soil conditions. A two-degree-of-freedom model is proposed, considering an infinitely rigid deck isolated by the FPS devices and an elastic behavior of the pier. Seismic response assessment of isolated bridges is described analyzing the trend of both the median deck displacement respect to the pier and the median pier displacement as a function of friction coefficient, of different periods and of soil condition.Pubblicazioni consigliate
