Abstract

An efficient, sustainable and low emission urban mobility will be more and more important from now to the next years, involving not only the personal mobility but also the car sharing. The electric mobility could be the best choice if the purpose are reducing the greenhouse effect and reduce the pollutant emissions but this require to have fast charging stations and its widespread infrastructure. Instead, if the infrastructure is not very diffused, the hybrid vehicle with range extender could be a very interesting opportunity and choice. The Range Extended solution represents a technical compromise between an electric and a conventional combustion engine vehicle offering the benefits the two technologies and avoiding the driver's range anxiety. This article illustrates the design of the regenerative braking strategy applied to an L7e range extended hybrid vehicle, taking into account, for the model point of view, different driving cycles that could be applied at the vehicle considering an urban mobility.
