The loading and damage of pre-notched concrete beams under three- and four-point bending were analyzed through both Acoustic Emission and Dynamic Identification techniques. AE signals were acquired during the tests and used to characterize the damage mechanism and progress. At the same time, variations in the natural bending frequencies, produced by the crack advancement under increasing deflections, were measured. The correlation between AE energy and variations in natural frequencies is discussed.

Abstract
The loading and damage of pre-notched concrete beams under three- and four-point bending were analyzed through both Acoustic Emission and Dynamic Identification techniques. AE signals were acquired during the tests and used to characterize the damage mechanism and progress. At the same time, variations in the natural bending frequencies, produced by the crack advancement under increasing deflections, were measured. The correlation between AE energy and variations in natural frequencies is discussed.Pubblicazioni consigliate
