This paper analyzes the impact of the transmission of Non-Standard Coarse Acquisition Code (NSC) broadcast by the Global Positioning System (GPS), focusing on the impact on Galileo signals and receivers. The purpose is to present a comprehensive analysis on the NSC transmitted by the SVN49/NAVSTAR 63 satellite of the GPS constellation, starting from May 2017. Simulation results are presented with the aim to assess whether or not the NSC affects the reception of Galileo E1 Open Service (OS) and GPS L1 C/A signals. Though the impact of the NSC is as expected of small entity, the effects on the Galileo signals result bigger than those on the GPS ones. The paper concludes with a proposal for a modified structure of the NSC, that possibly brings to negligible interference effects also on the Galileo signals.
