Abstract

Water wheels are hydraulic machines that employ the water weight to rotate. Because of their large di-ameter, rotational speeds result to be of few revolu-tions per minute. Such values require expensive power take off systems. In this paper, a water wheel with an innovative power take off was tested, show-ing maximum global efficiency of 72%.
