Abstract
One of the worst possible accident scenarios for the ITER fusion reactor is that of losing totally the cooling capacity of the complete machine. This accident is referred to as total LOCA The post-accidental thermal transient of a complete in-vessel sector of ITER was simulated: (a) assuming that every cooling loop other than those of the VV have failed and (b) under "envelope" post conditions, i.e. assuming the instantaneous and complete failure of every cooling loop of the reactor. Results confirmed past work on other designs and indicated that, with regard to the decay heat, ITER can be made passively safe with minor design interventionsPubblicazioni consigliate
