This paper analyzes how the switching noise generated in the power section of common three leg inverters used to drive BLDC motor gives rise to common mode conducted emissions. Besides the identification of the primary sources of switching noise and the parasitic elements that usually play a key role in the propagation of such disturbances, a new method based on a tight control of the power MOS commutation time is proposed. Its effectiveness is shown through simulation and measurement results.

Abstract

This paper analyzes how the switching noise generated in the power section of common three leg inverters used to drive BLDC motor gives rise to common mode conducted emissions. Besides the identification of the primary sources of switching noise and the parasitic elements that usually play a key role in the propagation of such disturbances, a new method based on a tight control of the power MOS commutation time is proposed. Its effectiveness is shown through simulation and measurement results.
