The paper presents a software module, developed within the Neplan network analysis tool environment, allowing a dialogue between the network simulator and external data. The tool is focused on the analysis of distribution networks and it has been used for two main aims: to keep the network model updated with data measured on the field (load values, status of switches etc.) and to couple the network simulator with an external topology optimizer. The procedure has been applied to the analysis of a distribution network owned by ATENA SpA in the Northern Italy town Vercelli. Plug-in working is explained and some preliminary results obtained are discussed.

Abstract
