The article deals with the sizing of UAV fleet and its operative and logistic support system, in order to guarantee the possibility of performing scheduled and emergency operations. Considering the high-level of complexity and the presence of a high number of stochastic elements, a simulation model is here proposed. The model has been developed exploiting the capability of an object-oriented software and the Monte-Carlo method has been selected as simulation technique. After the description of the methodology used to build the model, some sizing cases are reported and the results analyzed.

Abstract

The article deals with the sizing of UAV fleet and its operative and logistic support system, in order to guarantee the possibility of performing scheduled and emergency operations. Considering the high-level of complexity and the presence of a high number of stochastic elements, a simulation model is here proposed. The model has been developed exploiting the capability of an object-oriented software and the Monte-Carlo method has been selected as simulation technique. After the description of the methodology used to build the model, some sizing cases are reported and the results analyzed.
