In DVB-T Single Frequency Networks (SFN) different emitters simultaneously transmit the same signal on the same frequency. These signals can be used for positioning, or to integrate GNSS in hostile environments, but SFN characteristics may induce a path ambiguity problem. This paper demonstrates two solutions for solving this problem: pseudorange comparison and Doppler aiding decision. Both methods exploit the presence of a visible GNSS satellite during the motion. Simulation results show that (a) both the proposed methods are indeed able to successfully solve the path ambiguity problem in DVB-T positioning system and (b) the Doppler aiding decision achieves slightly better performance in terms of convergence time.

Abstract
In DVB-T Single Frequency Networks (SFN) different emitters simultaneously transmit the same signal on the same frequency. These signals can be used for positioning, or to integrate GNSS in hostile environments, but SFN characteristics may induce a path ambiguity problem. This paper demonstrates two solutions for solving this problem: pseudorange comparison and Doppler aiding decision. Both methods exploit the presence of a visible GNSS satellite during the motion. Simulation results show that (a) both the proposed methods are indeed able to successfully solve the path ambiguity problem in DVB-T positioning system and (b) the Doppler aiding decision achieves slightly better performance in terms of convergence time.Pubblicazioni consigliate
