The aim of the paper is to discuss solutions for avionic upgrades necessaries for allowing civil-military interoperability in a Single European Sky ATM context. Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) is the on-going European research program aiming at designing and validating a reformation of the Air Traffic Management system. SESAR research program involve also military aircraft for optimizing the airspace use. SESAR Work Packages are working together so that in the future military avionics could be able to implement selected ATM functionalities (i.e. Initial 4D and ASPA S&M) defined in the Single European Sky context. The paper considers military air traffic volumes compared with civil ones for better understanding reasons for considering a need for civil-military interoperability. A reference ATM use case for military aircraft has been defined considering Mission Trajectory documents from Eurocontrol. By analyzing the operational requirements related to military ATM use case and functional requirements related to Initial 4D and ASPA S&M functionalities, avionic solutions for assuring civil-military interoperability in Single European Sky has been designed. Upgrades of military avionic equipments (i.e. MIDS/Link 16, Mission Computers and IFF Identificator Friend or Foe) are discussed by considering several possibilities for functional implementation on military avionics.

Abstract
MIDS/Link 16, Mission Computers and IFF Identificator Friend or Foe) are discussed by considering several possibilities for functional implementation on military avionics.Pubblicazioni consigliate
