The MASLab project was launched with the goal of developing a full mathematical model for several different aircraft. Since the model was to be used for the validation of a Flight Management System, it had to include modeling of the autopilot suites for all the modeled aircraft. This paper details the implementation and validation procedure employed to accomplish this part of the modeling exercise. Starting from a description of the context in which the model operates and of the architecture of the model itself, the autopilot suites are described both from a theoretical (mathematical) and a practical (implementation) point of view. The validation procedure is then outlined, and a selection of test results presented.

Abstract
The MASLab project was launched with the goal of developing a full mathematical model for several different aircraft. Since the model was to be used for the validation of a Flight Management System, it had to include modeling of the autopilot suites for all the modeled aircraft. This paper details the implementation and validation procedure employed to accomplish this part of the modeling exercise. Starting from a description of the context in which the model operates and of the architecture of the model itself, the autopilot suites are described both from a theoretical (mathematical) and a practical (implementation) point of view. The validation procedure is then outlined, and a selection of test results presented.Pubblicazioni consigliate
