The paper illustrates the result of the interdisciplinary workflow of a workshop concerning the design and construction of a prefabricated poplar plywood structure. The research, promoted by Politecnico di Torino and Turin University, concerns the valorisation of wood in architecture and focuses in particular on the process of technological innovation that has characterised a renewable resource such as wood in the last few years. The MonaLisa Wood Pavillion project investigates the design issue from three main point of views, through the discussion between complementary disciplinary sectors, first, the structure is designed as part of the valorisation path of the material, second through the use of innovative engineered wood products highlights the role of the technology of architecture in the design process, third, explores the role of the digital design technologies in exploiting the potentialities of a new material, in particular through parametric design and optimization.

Abstract
The paper illustrates the result of the interdisciplinary workflow of a workshop concerning the design and construction of a prefabricated poplar plywood structure. The research, promoted by Politecnico di Torino and Turin University, concerns the valorisation of wood in architecture and focuses in particular on the process of technological innovation that has characterised a renewable resource such as wood in the last few years. The MonaLisa Wood Pavillion project investigates the design issue from three main point of views, through the discussion between complementary disciplinary sectors, first, the structure is designed as part of the valorisation path of the material, second through the use of innovative engineered wood products highlights the role of the technology of architecture in the design process, third, explores the role of the digital design technologies in exploiting the potentialities of a new material, in particular through parametric design and optimization.Pubblicazioni consigliate
