The Nonlinear Subspace Identification (NSI) exploits the robustness and the high numerical performances of subspace algorithms, as already demonstrated by the implementation of the method on simulated data from single and multi degree of freedom systems with typical nonlinear characteristics and on some experimental applications. In order to deal with large continuous structures with distributed nonlinearity, a modal counterpart of the method is under study.
