Abstract

Nowadays, risk management in healthcare is a crucial point in order to reduce the adverse events. In this context, the correct identification of the subject results a fundamental step for a proper execution of drug administration. In this study we simulated the therapy and medication administration processes with and without the introduction of wrist bar code for the patient identification. We highlight an statically significant (p<5%) increase in the duration of the nurse activities due to the insertion of patient recognition by means of wrist bar code.
