Patients functional recovery after total hip replacement is often slow. Gait analysis is used in the care management of hip prosthesis patients to objectively measure patient’s functional improvements. Our study demonstrated that despite a significant increase in the hip dynamic range of motion (ROM), patients do not reach normal ROM values even one year after the intervention. Furthermore, the total percentage of muscle’s activation during gait is higher with respect to healthy controls and remains practically unchanged along the year following surgery.

Abstract
Patients functional recovery after total hip replacement is often slow. Gait analysis is used in the care management of hip prosthesis patients to objectively measure patient’s functional improvements. Our study demonstrated that despite a significant increase in the hip dynamic range of motion (ROM), patients do not reach normal ROM values even one year after the intervention. Furthermore, the total percentage of muscle’s activation during gait is higher with respect to healthy controls and remains practically unchanged along the year following surgery.Pubblicazioni consigliate
