In this study a rapid continuous succession of 2D and 1D fluvial currents have been simulated in order to estimate the sediment concentration with time. Sediments are due to the erosion by overtopping of a granular steep slope. Erosion has been both reproduced experimentally and estimated theoretically. The currents reproduced range from debris-flow to ordinary bed load. The concentrations obtained experimentally have been compared to the estimates from a model applied to slope gradients in the range of 3% to 33%. An in-house developed equation, extension of the formerly established model, has also been used to evaluate the sediments concentration from non-stationary currents
