Waste disposal involves the resolving of various geotechnical problems during the design progress of a landfill. Among these problems is that of analyzing the stability conditions of complex structures also made up of waste materials. A reliable knowledge of the geotechnical parameters of wastes is required for a correct design. This consideration, together with the lack of research so far carried oou on this subject, induced the authors to develop an experimental study with the purpose of better knowing the shear behaviour of urban wastes. In the paper the results of some direct shear tests carried out on municipa waste bales and interposed materials are presented.

Abstract
Waste disposal involves the resolving of various geotechnical problems during the design progress of a landfill. Among these problems is that of analyzing the stability conditions of complex structures also made up of waste materials. This consideration, together with the lack of research so far carried oou on this subject, induced the authors to develop an experimental study with the purpose of better knowing the shear behaviour of urban wastes. In the paper the results of some direct shear tests carried out on municipa waste bales and interposed materials are presented.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
