The influence of the presence of some acrylic monomers containing particular functional groups on the properties of a typical UV curable epoxyacrylic resin has been evaluated. The following types of functionalized monomers were examined: 1 — monomers containing free carboxylic groups; 2 — phosphorus acid derivatives; 3 — monomers containing alkoxysilane groups . When not available, the monomers were prepared and characterized in their structure and functionality. They vere added in a definite amount to the epoxy—acrylic resins; afterwards the system was cured by UV irradiation in the presence or a photoinltiator. The mixtures containing type 1) and 2) monomers were coated on steel substrates, the mixtures with type 3) monomers on glass substrates. Firstly the influence the different functionalized monomers presence on the kinetics or the curing reaction was evaluated, then the adhesion propertiee of the obtained after UV curing were determined on the different substrates together humidity and solvent resistance The resuIts obtained show that the properties of the cured films depend either on the type of the existing functlonal groups or on the structure of the functionalized monomera used. A deep modification of the properties of the cured films obtained by using specific functionalized monomera which changed the curing characteristics, tho adhesion propertlee on different substrate, the humidity and soivent resistance.
