The application of an analytical approach to the study of rock avalanche evolution requires that a value is assigned to each constitutive parameter of the assumed rheology before running an analysis. To define a range of typical values to be assigned to these parameters, a numerical model has been applied to several case histories of rock avalanches grouped in categories containing cases having similar characteristics. The obtained results should be useful in the prediction of runout of a potential landslide.
